| Chairman's Report
As Presented at the 2005/2006 AGM
PA Committee
The committee for 2005 was once again strong, positive and fun. Going into 2006, we have had some very good recruits, including potential treasurer, 500 club administrator, web site designers and an additional bar helper but overall we feel that we need more people on the committee as we have also lost some people. We need more people to share the work and also more people to ensure we maintain our strength as we have taken on greater financial commitment than ever before. To share the workload across the committee we are defining the roles more clearly. We have had outstanding leadership from all Event sub committee leaders, Bar organisation, 500 Club, Database and Kitchen. Everyone has become involved and supported where they can. We could be more successful in getting parents not on the committee to help more. The support and relationship with the school members Mr. Dingle, Mr. Page, Mr. Shreeve, Grace Dodds and Steph Russell in Resources is excellent. School and Parent SupportFor the second year running the PA has held Y7/8 (9) Discos and Y7 New Parents’ Coffee Morning. Both these are proving excellent new initiatives from a social viewpoint. The PA fully organised and / or funded Prospective Boys’ refreshments, Y7 Cheese & Wine, refreshments at Prize Giving and the Bar at the Old Boys’ Dinner. Also, effort has been made to get more Parents’ email addresses and to populate a database for improved PA/Parent Communication. We plan improvements to the PA website in 2006. Fundraising and Fundraising EventsThe Autumn Ball, Christmas Party, Quiz Night and Y7/8 Disco were all first class events that were fully supported by impressive numbers of parents, boys and girls. Additionally this year we introduced an > 18 only ‘Quizgo’ evening which was very well received. In 2006 we can look forward to another successful year on our fundraising for the school with a good program of events already discussed or planned. The 500 club continues to contribute a steady income along with the new parent subscriptions, although both need close attention. Projects for the SchoolThis year the School has benefited from many items funded by the PA totalling over £20K, both for the fabric of the school and for several societies who needed some help to establish themselves. Please see full list in Treasurers Report. The PA have now firm financial annual commitment of the leasing of the two minibuses(£5.4K) and £8K for 5 years for the glazing under the Queen’s Hall.
